The Trump Reelection Nightmare — and what we can do in its aftermath.

Let me start with a disclaimer: Trump and his ilk have made me and many others cry, vomit, and shake with despair that humans can be so evil — but never smile, so I am not endorsing our eminent Reichsfuhrer in any way. And let me add another disclaimer: This piece of writing is not aimed at converting “white working class voters in swing states” or embracing “diversity of thought” or investing in the “bipartisan marketplace of ideas” — no — this is about building a coalition of all democrats, leftys, progressives, and anyone who doesn’t subscribe to the current republican party and preparing for the political and economic streetfight that will follow election day in 2020. This explanation of how to do that comprised of two parts — the slap in the face many democrats need that Trump getting re-elected is not something we can simply stop with our good faith and our “blue wave” — and the fact that in order to hold the world together and knock him off his throne we need to build both a domestic and international coalition with more people, money, and weapons than he has.

There is a certain naivete and pompous arrogance among democrats and people on the left from across the ideological spectrum from center-left, to left, to far left, that Trump has no chance of winning. After locking children in cages and separating them from their families, and sex trafficking young girls, and sexually assaulting women he’s worked with, and mocking war heroes, and attempting to ban an entire religion — “I mean there’s just no way!” — or even — “ it may be hard — but we can win if we organize enough”. So to those people, still stuck in the clouds — let me be very blunt, in order to beat Trump in 2020 Democrats have to win the electoral college. This means that like in the 2016 or 2000 presidential elections they can win the most votes across the country but still lose due to losing enough statewide elections. This means it doesn’t matter how many people can’t stand trump or republicans — if enough people in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida do. And because of the electorally fixed nature of many states across the nation, if a candidate wins Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida during a given Presidential election — it is very hard for them to lose. Even though Hillary got blown out of the water in 2016, including in multiple states Obama won twice — if she had only won Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida she would have still beat Trump by 60 electoral votes.

If Trump holds all of these states, or even two of them in 2020, beating him will be nearly impossible. There is a pretty clear reason he will win these states. Because Trump’s campaign was built on White Nationalism (and racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, etc.), he was able to bring in millions of otherwise unengaged, uneducated white people into the political process- and that is how he won. By this logic — knowing he won those states in 2016 with this strategy, unless the levels of uneducated people and white people have significantly changed since then, he will win these states again. According to the world population review as of 2019, Ohio is currently around 82.2% white, Pennsylvania is currently 81.4% white, and Florida is 75.9% white. According to the census, as of 2017 30.1% of Pennsylvanians age 25 or older have a bachelor’s degree or above, with Ohio’s number at 27.2% and 28.5%. Now, you may say “but Mark, those numbers are about the same in California or New York!”. Ah, and here lies the crux of the matter. The entire United States is not prepared to enter a competitive global workforce, but if a state is unprepared and unemployed AND very white — and if this is compounded with a visible urban rural divide within the state making non-metropolitan white people resent the “coastal elites” then a national crisis becomes the most valuable political tool a demagogue can have — and three of the most vulnerable states to this phenomena happen to be the states that decide the Presidency. Again, if the Presidency was decided by popularity, than the Speaker of the House could easily become president because it is decided not by the sheer numbers of people but statewide elections that determine the national political power structure are currently not in the democrats favor — as we saw in 2018, when we won the house and got blown out trying to achieve a senate majority.

So, no matter how much we fight, when Trump wins in 2020 we have to have a plan to take back America for the majority of people who despise the republican party and the 52.8% of people that disapprove of trump as of March 25th 2019, both from the inside and outside. From the inside, we have to recognize that at least 8/10 of the top ten cities in the United States by GDP are reliably blue in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, DC-Metro Area, Atlanta, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Boston, and this is where most of the wealth in the United States is concentrated. Of these cities, at least 4 of them are reliably blue states both with their representatives and currently controlled governors mansions. What we have to do, as patriots, is turn against trump from the inside and start the economic pissing match of the century until he is out of office and no longer holds power to do anything.

The way we do this is we start by attacking his top priorities from a state coalition level, which are: environmental destruction, war profiteering, demonization of immigrants, minorities, women and LGBTQ folks, privatized healthcare, housing, and education, and unwavering support for the global authoritarian axis of genocide. We then build the “Trump Resistance Union”, led by the Governors of California, New York, Massachusetts, and Illinois, as well as all democratically controlled Mayoral seats and Governor’s mansions in the Country at that time — in committing as much internal ideological treason against President trump as possible in passing both local and state legislation and measures that directly confront and conflict with his political interests — this includes abolishing ICE at the state level and utilizing the state national guard to arrest national security agents aimed at detaining undocumented immigrants and putting them on trial, committing to universal education, housing, and healthcare at the state level, passing state laws humiliating and divesting from the regimes of dictators in China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Israel, North Korea, Russia, the Philippines, Brazil, and India.

We then build-in the Southern Poverty Law Center as a state-government apparatus in direct rebuke of Trump in as many state legislatures as possible, and passing State-level Green New Deals for every state with the democratic political capital and financial capital to do so. Once the domestic Trump Resistance Union is up and running for 4–5 months, the policies just explained have been passed and begun implementation, and we have become a cohesive and thoroughly connected organization, in mid 2021 we then host a meeting with the heads of state and commerce and trade representatives from the European Union, South Korea, Japan, Mexico, Taiwan, Malaysia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland and Canada — as reliable Democratic Trump adversaries and key trading partners with the United States in encouraging these nation states and their allies to launch complete and total sanctions on the United States until both Trump and Pence resign from their positions within the same 12 hours.

From there — with both the internal political revolution and the external economic trade war in full effect — we wait to see how much has to burn before we get in power and abolish the Electoral College — so this never has to happen again. And if our adversaries do not submit, we shall turn to other means.
